Lindsay Nicole Flournoy
I was born February 8th, 1989 in Warner Robins, Georgia and the youngest of four. My family soon moved back home to Florida after my father's service in the Military.
As a kid I often drew and colored, quite common for that age. However it was at the age of 11 that I first stumbled across anime. After seeing a particularly 'cool' scene I wanted a way to remember it, so I broke out a pencil and some notebook paper. Believing I had done an amazing job, I decided to show my family. It was largely thanks to their compliments that I decided to keep sketching. Might I add the family LIED, it looked terrible, but the support was greatly appreciated. Won't get into the fact that I now have a hard time trusting their opinion. Just kidding. Thankfully the more I drew, the more I tended to attempt more complicated work, which resulted in improvement in my ability.
Eventually when I was 18 I was at the 2007 Bainbridge Bike fest with my mother and step father. My mom was bragging about me (as mothers tend to do) to a custom airbrush artist there. After seeing my shading skills, he suggested that I attend an Airbrush Action Workshop. I did so when I was 19. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be until I was 24 and after I attended another workshop that I really decided to get more serious about it.
In the time between I decided to take an oil painting class in order to conquer my fear of color. It was a serious matter that stopped me from airbrushing. Having sketched for 8-10 years prior I was only comfortable with grayscale and thought this issue needed to be addressed. Luckily it worked. A very clear fact when I was mixing airbrush colors like a mad scientist at the second workshop.
So as a concept artist, oil painter, and 'need much improvement' airbrusher; I currently go to school for a degree in Graphic Design. One I'll have by the end of 2014. In the mean time I am working to start showing my artwork more at festivals, events, and hopefully soon, a gallery.
